First off, thanks for the honesty. That takes some humility. And c'mon, who can't relate?...
"God revealed to me that day the selfish pride I place in control, in hurry." This really stuck out to me. So true... in our culture, we place great emphasis on constant productivity - constant hurry. Be still. Not a Martha, but a Mary. Sit at His feet. I need to press into that more.
Oh, the precious toddler years… I often went to bed feeling like I messed up! Mine are all the most amazing teenagers now and they taught me so many lessons. From the mouth of babes… am I right? I promise if you’re anything like me your patience will come and you’ll begin to soak in the moments that seem too short and passing quickly. ❤️

Not a Martha, but a Mary—so true. Something I’m learning in my own life. Thank you for your kind words.
Thanks for sharing this story and reflection Devon. You’re the kind of father I aspire towards.
Thanks, Zane. Just trying to be honest about my shortcomings so I can be a better man for my children. I appreciate your kind words.
You make me excited to be a parent someday!
It is definitely a journey, one paved in trial and error. Ha!
"He delights in each moment, finds harmony in the steady passage of time."
So good, Devon. As a mom of three young children, I relate to this story.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Audra! Being a parent is the best (and often the most humbling) thing in the world, isn’t it?

Thank you so much! It definitely all goes too fast! Trying to capture it while I can. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. :)
I love this! I’m often overwhelmed by my desperate need of grace as a parent.
I heard a mentor tell me once -“Give your parents some grace, they aren’t much further down the road of life and still figuring life out.”
That’s been something I go back to when I fail as a parent.
Amen to that. We need grace just as much as our children do. In some ways, probably more!
