Devon, thank you for this. Your writing captures the depth of these experiences - of entering into overwhelming grief with families and feeling totally at a loss. And yet, God is there - weeping with all. Beautiful.
Took me a little while to get around to this, but I'm glad I did. You should be proud of this one, Devon. The tenderness with which you write is so necessary and important today.
I appreciate you, John. And my heart breaks too. I can only imagine what the families who are stricken by grief must be going through. All I can do is hope. Hope, hope, hope. Blessings, my friend.
Yes, when I began to understand the extent to which Jesus went to experience suffering, pain, rejection and death, out of his love for us, then I could see this love revealed, in times of grief and loss, as well as the planting of the seeds of hope, the hope of a “homeland” or “better country” (Hebrews 11).
Thank you for sharing this and articulating the depths to which the love of God will reach!
As I reflect, it would have been such a love extended to Jesus’ own mother, Mary, who would have to embrace the horrible loss of her own son, to fulfill God’s plan.

Devon, this is stunning. My tears are stinging my eyes. God be near all those who are giving up hope tonight. Heartbreaking.
